Approval of Minutes
Minutes from the June board meeting were approved.
Reports
Finance
Year-end financial work is still being completed, including reconciliations and adjustments.
Preliminary financial results show a year-to-date surplus.
Significant expenses included curriculum materials, technology purchases, and software upgrades.
Capital improvement funds were distributed, with one allocation still being held pending review.
The Finance Committee is reviewing the current method of allocating interest income.
The capital improvement allowance will increase as parishes assume additional maintenance responsibilities.
Human Resources
A new principal has been appointed for All Saints Catholic School. Staff have been notified, and a parent announcement will follow.
Open positions remain at JFK and for the Assumption/St. Joan of Arc band director role. Candidate interviews are underway.
SCCS will need to secure nursing support after the Scott County Health Department discontinues medication administration assistance. Potential partnerships with local healthcare and educational organizations are being explored.
The board discussed the potential future need for an SCCS nurse as student enrollment and health needs continue to grow.
Education and School Updates
Elementary principals are developing a shared attendance policy to improve consistency across schools.
The proposed policy establishes common guidelines for tardies, absences, attendance tracking, parent communication, and truancy procedures.
The attendance policy will serve as a starting point for aligning additional school policies.
Enrollment Update
K–12 enrollment increased compared to the previous year.
Administration continues following up with families who have not completed registration and processing pending applications.
Some schools are nearing capacity, and discussions are underway regarding potential student placement options.
Mission and Governance
The board approved the proposed SCCS mission statement and motto, pending final approval.
Two new board members were recommended and approved, pending diocesan approval.
Board orientation will be provided to new members.
The board secretary’s role and responsibilities were reviewed, and a new secretary was appointed.
Articles of Incorporation and Bylaws
The board reviewed proposed revisions to the Articles of Incorporation and Bylaws from the Bishop’s Office.
Discussion included governance structure changes, board member terms, audit requirements, pastor involvement, and board member appointment processes.
The board requested clarification and revisions before approval.
No formal vote was taken. Questions and requested revisions will be submitted for review.
Conflict of Interest Policy
Completion of new conflict-of-interest forms will be delayed until the revised governance documents are finalized and approved.
Facilities
Grant School Planning
Educational benefits and risks
Construction management firms were reviewed for the Grant School project.
Additional information will be requested before a final selection is made.
The board discussed the future vision for the Grant School property and identified a middle school option as the preferred direction for further study.

Financing and Approval
- Additional clarification is needed regarding diocesan approval requirements, borrowing limits, and financing options.

- Plans for forming an investment committee are on hold due to uncertainty regarding future capital needs related to the Grant School project.
