- Prayer
- The group began the meeting with a prayer.
- Approval of Minutes:
- The decision was made to approve previous meeting minutes at the next meeting.
- Reports
- Mission & Governance
- Andy Craig states that there is nothing new to add.
- Education
- Andy states he spoke with Olivia Allen, a Quad City Times reporter, about ESA.
- Andy shared that enrollment is unpredictable at the moment.
- There is not much concern about how the incoming charter schools will affect SCCS.
- Andy shares that it is Catholic Schools Week, and encourages the board to attend all-school-mass.
- Finance
- Martha shares that parents are doing well getting their ESA tuition approved. Only three students remain to be approved.
- They have until Friday to complete it.
- Net surplus of $418,000 for December.
- A large donation of $260,000 was made.
- Accrued sick and vacation pay had to be recorded. Approximately 70% had to be recorded.
- SEEK conference caused additional expenses in December and January.
- Martha shares that it was a powerful and positive experience for the attendees.
- There was income that came in that offset the SEEK conference costs.
- Human Resources
- Open position for guidance counselor at All Saints.
- The principal position for St. Paul’s is open and the search to fulfill the position has commenced.
- SCCS executive assistant position has been filled by Connor Gauley.
- The names for the search committee are still being finalized.
- Regarding background checks and fingerprinting process: all new hires must be fingerprinted.
- The fingerprinting is free if you are a daycare entity. If not, it is approximately $30 per person.
- Attempts are being made to show that SCCS processes are functioning well without the fingerprinting process to avoid incorporating it.
- The termination at All Saints has been resolved with a long-term substitute filling in.
- A termination resulted in having to report an incident to the Iowa Department of Education.
- An injury occurred during this month.
- Advertising for director of curriculum is being withheld until the principal position is filled.
- Communications & Marketing
- Tuition letter resulted in far less emails and inquiries from parents.
- Questions predominantly stemmed from teachers from Illinois concerning whether or not their benefits would be grandfathered in.
- Questions also included why the ESA could not be used to cover the application fee.
- Other questions concerned UI of Blackbaud.
- Andy Craig states that SJA’s communication of the request fee has been a point of issue.
- Andy shows the board the SJA packet that communicates the information concerning the additional fee.
- Andy walks the board through the SJA packet and explains their process of assessing fees.
- It is acknowledged that this has been pioneered by the St. Joan of Arc foundation without the appropriate amount of consultation with SCCS.
- Facilities
- All Saints is experiencing heating issues.
- A discussion was held about searching for a new space.
- Technology
- Andy discusses his meeting with Kevin Murphy concerning their plan to get everyone on the same technology cycle and universalize technology amongst the schools and grades.

- Teaching devices are still varied, an attempt to standardize this will be made.
- A plan has been made to universalize all technology systems amongst schools.
- This will greatly reduce costs.

- ESA rates will not be known until February.
